Welcome

Since the Brexit referendum in 2016, the debate on the reunification of Ireland has gained momentum and is now a live conversation happening across the island of Ireland at all levels of society. It also needs to take place in the heart of the European Union because Ireland's future is also Europe's future.

BXL-Irish Unity is a civic group of Irish diaspora based in Brussels with diverse backgrounds working in the EU institutions, NGOs, and the private sector. We represent a spectrum of people on the topic of Irish unity - meaning some of our members are supporters while others are unity-curious. We all believe that now is the time to discuss and plan for Irish unity within the European Union.

Our Core Aims

Diaspora Voices

NI Representation

Diaspora Voices

Building a new Ireland cannot happen without the voices of the diaspora being heard. We believe they need to be included in the citizen's assembly on Irish unity.

EU Engagement

NI Representation

Diaspora Voices

To avoid the mistakes of the past, effective planning for the event of Irish unity needs to take place within the EU institutions and member states.

NI Representation

NI Representation

NI Representation

The people of Northern Ireland did not vote for Brexit and are now left without meaningful representation in the EU. We believe observer MEP seats can help address this deficit.
